Maguette Academy · Youth Champions

Peer connectors, not counsellors.

Maguette Youth Champions are trained young adults aged 18–24 who help peers discover Maguette, model healthy help-seeking and know when to connect someone with a trusted adult or professional service.

A deliberately clear role

Champions do not diagnose, provide therapy or manage serious risk alone. Their role is to communicate, connect and escalate appropriately within WASSOR's safeguarding framework.

What Champions learn

  • How to introduce Maguette responsibly
  • Mental-health literacy and stigma-aware communication
  • Role boundaries, confidentiality and safeguarding
  • When and how to involve trusted adults and professional support
  • Accountability as a recognised WASSOR Youth Champion

Safeguarding comes before visibility

The Champion model is being developed with identity verification, central status management and a route for safeguarding concerns. Public verification should confirm only the minimum information needed to establish that a Champion is currently recognised by WASSOR.
