We work with the knowledge, community structures and collective experience already present in Senegal. Communities help shape the questions we ask and the work we undertake together.
Current project
Empower Minds is WASSOR's current youth mental-health and wellbeing programme in Senegal, bringing together digital innovation, research, capacity building and evaluation.
Maguette is a digital mental-health platform in development for Senegal's cultural and linguistic context. It draws on EMI's learning to offer information, support and guidance towards human care. It is not yet publicly available.
Through EMI, we study how mental-health tools and measures reflect young people’s cultural realities and how they are used in Senegal. Young people take part in this research. Detailed findings are shared separately when ready for publication.
Research governance
Relevant research is conducted within WASSOR's applicable ethics and safeguarding processes.

Funding
The Empower Minds Initiative is supported by Being — an international mental health initiative hosted by Grand Challenges Canada and funded in part by the Government of Canada, Fondation Botnar, and The UK’s Department of Health and Social Care using UK aid through the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR).
In development
These projects grow out of our work and research with communities. We welcome conversations with partners about their next stages. Detailed methods and protocols are shared as partnerships develop.
