Bineta Gueye Thiam, MBPsS, FHEA

Bineta Gueye Thiam is a Senegalese psychologist, researcher, womanist practitioner and founder of WASSOR Womanity. Her work brings together culturally responsive mental health, safeguarding and participatory research, informed by gender-sensitive and decolonial approaches. She works with community structures to develop responses to the needs people identify.
She founded WASSOR from a conviction that psychological knowledge should not be imported into communities as if people hold no knowledge of their own lives. Her approach starts with lived experience, local knowledge and existing community structures, then brings psychology, research, technology and institutional partnerships around them.
Bineta leads WASSOR's strategy, research, partnerships and safeguarding direction, including Maguette. Mentorship and tutoring are also central to her practice, particularly with early-career professionals and people whose experience or potential is not always recognised by conventional pathways. A lover of group analysis, she is deeply interested in how groups, relationships and social contexts shape mental health and change.
